Rapinoe retired last year, on August 25, at age 38. She was one of three players to wear the Seattle uniform from the team’s debut in 2013 until the 2023 campaign. Her jersey is only the second to be retired by a National Women’s Soccer League team.

“I’ve lived so much life in this jersey and I’m humbled to see it retire alongside me. It represents so much more than myself — a team, a city and a lifetime of memories”, wrote Rapinoe in a statement.
The former forward played 115 regular season games and 11 playoff games for Seattle. She scored 54 goals and assisted another 28, both team records. “It’s nearly impossible to put into words the impact Pinoe has had in this sport”, said Reign coach Laura Harvey.
