United posted an injury update on Martinez injury this Monday (5). In an interview after the match, Ten Hag described the injury as a “personal disaster” for the defender. “It doesn’t look good”, said the manager.
“There is a bad concern. We have to wait for a few days for the diagnosis. He is very sad, very disappointed. We all feel really with him”, said Ten Hag. Martinez was playing in only his third league game after more than three months out with a foot injury.
“First of all it is a personal disaster when it is really bad but also for the team it is really bad because he definitely brings us a lot”, added the manager. The defender missed 22 games with the foot injury, and made his return on January 14, against Tottenham.
