Joelinton has been ruled out until May, after undergoing a surgery on his thigh injury. He picked up the injury during Newcastle’s 3-0 FA Cup win against Sunderland on January 6. The midfielder is out of contract in 2025, and Newcastle are under pressure to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

“He has 18 months left on his contract so it’s a possibility he’ll be sold in the summer. I’m not a fortune teller but it’s a possibility. I hope that’s not the case. I want him to stay. I love him as a person and player”, said manager Eddie Howe about Joelinton’s situation.
“But before a player signs a contract he has to be happy with everything and we are not there yet”, added Howe. Joelinton joined Newcastle from German side Hoffenheim in 2019 in a £40m deal. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, and scored three goals.
