Reguilon joined United for the season on deadline day, but the contract contained a break clause, which they decided to activate. The left-back made 12 appearances and started seven games.

The Spanish international was loaned out due to an injury crisis, as the two main left-backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, were out. But neither is available yet. Shaw is out with a short-term injury, and Malacia is close to returning. Diogo Dalot is seen as an option at left-back, having replaced Reguilon a few times.
Reguilon would also not be able to take part in the next Premier League match, as it is against Tottenham, his club of origin. The left-back is the second player to leave United in January, as Donny van de Beek will be loaned out to Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season.
Reguilon’s return to Spurs could give him a chance at left-back, as Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic are sidelined and Ben Davies is playing as a center-back due to injuries in the middle of the defense.
