He will spend the rest of 2024 in his home country after being loaned straight back to River Plate. Barcelona had already shown interest in Echeverri last year. At the last U-17 World Cup, he stood out by scoring a hat-trick in the quarter-final win over Brazil and helping Argentina finish fourth.
The midfielder has made six appearances for River, and has since graduated to the Argentina Under-23 squad. He is City’s first signing of January.
