Last Thursday (18), through social networks and official websites, the Jayco-AIUIa team announced that Luke Plapp suffered an accident followed by a fall during the third stage of the Tour Down Under, which takes place in Australia. The cyclist was removed from the race immediately and taken to the medical center.

After the assessment, the team reported that the athlete had superficial injuries, causing him to have swollen elbows and ankles, which would require monitoring throughout the night. However, later the same day, Jayco-AIUIa reported the decision to withdraw the cyclist from the competition.

“After monitoring Plapp overnight, he will unfortunately not start today’s fourth stage of the Tour Down Under due to ongoing discomfort and pain caused by a large number of injuries,” the team said in a statement to race organizers for the dispute and to viewers.

Luke Plapp was not the only one to suffer from the accident, according to information released, cyclists Rudy Molard, from Groupama-FDJ, Christian Scaroni, Samuele Battistella and Michele Gazzoli, from Astana Qazaqstan, and Cameron Scott, from Bahrain Victorious, also suffered injuries and bruises from what happened.
