Erik Spoelstra, coach of the Miami Heat for 16 years, renewed his contract with the franchise for another eight years, with a record value of US$120 million, becoming the holder of the largest contract ever signed by a coach in NBA history.

The information was released by ESPN journalist, Adrian Wojnarowski. Under the terms of the new agreement, Spoelstra will receive $15 million annually.

During his 16 years at the helm of the Miami Heat, Spoelstra won two NBA titles, with the presence of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in the squad, and reached the finals in four more seasons.
