“I hope to compete in both nationals and the Tour of Colombia, where I will try to do my best and then travel to Europe in very good conditions. I usually do The Gran Camiño, Strade Bianche, Catalunya, Basque Country and Romandie. But to start we are focused until the Tour of Colombia. I want to be very strong there and then in Europe, we’ll see how everything goes. We have to be open to all possibilities”, said the athlete.
The cyclist stated that one of the big reasons for being open to new perspectives was the rigorous schedule he had to follow last year, but that, in a way, helped him recover his performance and physical capacity due to injuries he suffered from an accident. .
“The schedule we had last year was very difficult, but it helped me start to recover well and I think this year I’m arriving at a different pace. I feel much better. The idea for 2023 was actually to do a lot of kilometers with the Tour and the Vuelta, accumulating tiredness and waiting for the body to adapt again”, concluded Egan Bernal.
