The center-back picked up a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Everton. The injury could lead to a layoff of up to five weeks. Romero joins Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison among the injured.

Spurs are also without midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is currently serving a four-game ban and is already expected to miss the whole of January, along with Pape Sarr, due to their commitments at the African Cup of Nations.
Captain Song Heung-min will also be absent, as he joins the South Korean team for the Asian Cup next month. With all the injuries and absentees, Postecoglou wants to be active in the early part of the January transfer window.
“If you can bring them in early, even if they don’t play you can bed them into training and our style of football because it’s not like we’re going to sign somebody and they’ll hit the ground running. Maybe they could”, said the boss.
“So, yes I’d love to do something early in the window but even me saying that puts a challenge on us, because other clubs know we want to do something early. You’ve got to play the game, we’ll see what happens but I’m hopeful it will be much earlier than the end of the window before we bring someone in”, added Postecoglou.
