Ramsdale started every Premier League game for the team in the last season, but was replaced by David Raya as No. 1. Raya joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford in the summer, and usurped Ramsdale’s spot.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s (5) Premier League game against Luton, Arteta said “I want Aaron with us”. “I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us. We want to be better, so we want to add to what we already have. That’s the intention that we have”, the manager added.
The goalkeeper started in all 38 Premier League games during the 2022-23 season, but as Raya was preferred for the game against Everton in September, he lost his place. He only played in two Carabao Cup games and one Premier League game when Raya was unable to play. The goalkeeper has been linked with Newcastle, who may be looking for a replacement for Nick Pope, who has been sidelined with a shoulder injury.
When asked if he could categorically rule out the possibility of Ramsdale leaving in next month’s transfer window, Arteta said: “I won’t do that to any player. Any player”. “I cannot tell you that any Arsenal player is not going to leave in January. Or he is to stay here for the next three years. I won’t say that no player is going to go to Newcastle. Or no member of the staff either. I won’t say it. If you say yes or no, I won’t say it”, he added.
