“I’m surprised by something that happened to me this morning. I didn’t want to say this in public, but it’s about time because it’s been a long time. Miguel Ángel López continued to explain how he felt about the situation: “Just like now at the Disney hotel, I collaborated, I did the things they asked me to do. I have collaborated with information, with controls, because I went through many. If they take the trouble to come here, let them take the same trouble to solve the problem for me and speed me up, investigate and give me the green light to do what I like because I’m not hiding anything and I’m clean, I have nothing to do with this.”

As the cyclist’s case continues to be investigated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) authorities, Miguel Ángel López needs to be available at any time to carry out new doping tests regardless of whether he is in competitions or in leisure situations.

Previously, due to an investigation carried out by the International Testing Agency (ITA) amid Operation Ilex, organized by the Spanish Guardia Civil and the Spanish Anti-Doping Organization (CELAD), reports revealed that the cyclist was involved in a “use and possession” scheme. ” of substances banned by the UCI.

Therefore, following the conclusion of Operation Ilex, Miguel Ángel López was provisionally suspended from any competition organized by the UCI. The investigation into the case also meant that the athlete’s contract with Astana Qazaqstan ended in 2022.
