When commenting on her choice, the athlete reflected that she had no doubts about staying at Visma-Lease a Bike because it is a welcoming space that develops the best in competitors. “For me, that was certainly an obvious choice. I have a lot of confidence in the team and in me. So the decision wasn’t that difficult, I’m especially happy that we can continue together. We hope there is a bright future ahead”, commented Fem van Empel.

At just 21 years old, the Dutch cyclist won the title of world champion in cyclocross and took first place in her tenth consecutive start at the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Cyclocross World Cup, in Antwerp, Belgium, last week. Additionally, she won the first stage of the women’s Tour de l’ Avenir and the Tour de Romandie.

The athlete also reflected that she will focus on road racing: “You have to make a choice at some point. I hope that in the future it will become more and more road-based, but the exact races have not yet been determined”.
