Muller has spent his whole career at Bayern, since joining the club at the age of 10, progressing through the youth ranks and making his senior debut in 2008. He already made 684 appearances for the team, with 237 goals and another 261 assists.

He could become the player with the most appearances for Bayern Munich in history. The record holder is Sepp Maier, who played for the team on 706 occasions. Muller also has won 12 German Bundesliga titles, two Champions League, six German cups and eight German Supercups.
Bayern club president Herbert Hainer praised Muller, calling him “a legend while still playing”. “His career is littered with records in the history books. FC Bayern has been shaped by many people, and there will never again be a player like Thomas Müller, added Hainer.
Muller said that he is happy to continue at Bayern. “It’s important to me to be a foundation and to help steer the team in the right direction. I want to excite our fans with goals, helping create goals, my love of the game, my passion for football – and hopefully with many more titles”, said the German.
