“Wout would prefer to race more this winter, but he understands the bigger picture. The whole winter is about spring performance. Cyclocross is a foundation for this”, said the athlete’s coach when referring to the next “Exact Cross” competition that the athlete will be present at, on December 9, in Emmen, in the Netherlands.

According to previously released information, for next year, one of the athlete’s main goals is to focus on competing in the major Spring Classics and increasingly abandon cyclocross matches. In other interviews, Wout van Aert had stated that it was difficult to concentrate on a specific phase after having participated in several disputes.
Regarding the change in the calendar, Mathieu Heijboer reports that the dynamics will be different but that it will bring more determination and performance. “This will certainly be a change for Wout. At Jumbo-Visma we guide the pilots as a team, but each pilot has their own direct contact with whom training is discussed,” he said.
For next year, the races in which the cyclist will participate are still open, however, the media claims that Wout van Aert will compete in the Volta ao Algarve, Strade Bianche and Dwars door Vlaanderen. In addition to the Olympic Games, the athlete has the opportunity to be in the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a Espana.
