On Wednesday (22), Seahawks head coach Pete Caroll expressed optimism about Smith’s chances of playing against the 49ers this Thursday (23). Caroll explained that the quarterback showed enough throwing in Wednesday’s walk-thru. “He did quite well today. We rested him for most of the week, short week, in terms of throwing. He did really well today”.
++Manchester United and England defender Luke Shaw returns to training after injury
“It looks bad because he’s got a big bruise on the back of his triceps, but his attitude has been right on it the whole time. He hasn’t missed a snap as far as we didn’t let him throw the first couple days, but he didn’t miss a snap. He was doing everything, so he’s ready to go”, said Caroll.
Smith was injured during Sunday’s (19) win against the Rams. He left with a contusion on his triceps, after a hit by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, but was able to return for the final offensive possession of the game.
While Smith is listed as questionable, Seahawks are set to play without running back Kenneth Walker III, who left Sunday’s game with an oblique injury. Safety Jamal Adams will be back from a knee injury, after he avoided an injury designation. Defensive back Jerrick Reed is out due to tearing his ACL, and wide receiver Dareke Young (abdomen) is in the doubtful group. Right tackle Abraham Lucas is listed as questionable, with a knee injury.
