Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure could miss the rest of the season due to an Achilles injury.

Doucoure sustained the injury on Saturday (25), during the 2-1 defeat at Luton Town. The midfielder was taken off on a stretcher after falling in pain during a pass at the start of the second half. The injury can rule him out for up to six months.

The Mali international has become a key player for Crystal Palace, since joining from Lens in 2022. He made 45 Premier League appearances and was considered by fans to be the club’s best player last season. Doucoure’s performance linked him with a possible move to Liverpool, which led Palace to put a £70m valuation on him.

With the Achilles injury, Doucoure is also ruled out of Mali’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which begins in January. Crystal Palace could also be without English midfielder Eberechi Eze, who was substituted in the same game as Doucoure with an ankle injury. The team is awaiting information on his state of health.
