Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is back to full practice participation, and is eager to return to the team.

++Chelsea captain Reece James has surgery on hamstring injury

Smith was limited in all three practices last week with a groin injury, but surprised the team with his pregame workout. He was expected to play Monday (18) night against the Eagles, but coach Pete Carroll and the team decided to start Drew Lock.

In a press conference released this Thursday (21) on Seahawks’ YouTube channel, Smith said “It was tough” not to play on Monday. “Just preparing myself and doing everything that I possibly can to be ready to play. Seemed like I was ready to play. Expecting to go out there and play and then coach making that decision. Got to live with it”.

“Obviously, I was hurt by it. I want to go out there and compete. I want to play any chance that I get. But I do understand that he’s got to make the decision for the team and also for me, to kind of protect me from myself at times”, said Smith.

“Had to deal with it and move on and go out there and support the guys. So, that was my main focus once I learned that I wouldn’t be able to play”, the quarterback added. Smith was asked whether he expects to play Sunday’s (24) game against the Titans and he answered “I would hope so”.

This Thursday (21), James posted the news of the surgery in his Instagram account. “The footballing world knew I got injured but the procedure I would go down this time took slightly longer to figure out the best solution. I had surgery today to try fix my reoccurring hamstring issue, the recovery has started, both physically and mentally”, he wrote in the caption.

“Since this injury I’ve had a good amount of support but significantly more hate and negativity. Believe me I don’t wanna be injured, I’m happiest when I’m playing football. Thanks to the understanding people that support me despite the highs or the lows, it goes a long way. Stay well, Reece”, he added.

James first suffered the injury in August, during Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool. He didn’t play again until October. Then, on November 25, he suffered the injury again, which prevented him from playing for eight games.

Playing for the first time since then, he was substituted in the 26th minute of the 2-0 defeat against Everton on December 10, feeling the injury again. Since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, he has only played in 24 Premier League matches.

James also missed last year’s World Cup in Qatar with knee ligament damage. The captain didn’t say how long he was expected to be sidelined.

Biden promises to send a delegation to Mexico to resolve the migration crisis

A high-level American delegation will travel to Mexico in the coming days to talk about the migration crisis.

++ US releases close Maduro ally in exchange for Venezuela releasing 10 Americans

This was reported by the White House this Thursday (21), after telephone conversations between Presidents Joe Biden and Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

With that, Biden asked Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejando Mayorkas, and White House National Security Advisor, Liz Sherwood Randall, to travel to Mexico “in the next few days”.

Therefore, the three American officials should “meet with President López Obrador and his team to discuss new actions that can be taken together to address current border challenges,” Kirby pointed out.

It’s worth remembering that these talks and the trip take place as the opposition Republican Party pressures Biden’s Democrats to make major changes to immigration policy as a condition for approving an emergency aid package for Ukraine and Israel.

Kirby said there has been a “dramatic increase” in cross-border migration, much of it from violence-ravaged Central American countries.

In their telephone conversation this Thursday, Biden and López Obrador “shared a similar concern about the increase in migratory flow in recent weeks”, said Kirby.

With this, the two presidents discussed “in general terms what can be done within Mexico to stop this process”, he said.

Some of the possible measures would be to increase checkpoints on railway lines and roads and expand the presence of security forces on Mexico’s southern border, the spokesperson said.

As a result, the agreement will be for one season, with the possibility of extension for another year. Suárez was in Miami in the last few days to finalize the negotiations and define the future once and for all.

Therefore, according to information in the publication, Suárez will receive four times less than his salary at his former club, the Brazilian team Grêmio, from which he received around R$2 million contributed by sponsors.

The Uruguayan will not occupy the position of Designated Player, the player who can earn above the salary cap.

It is worth remembering that at Inter Miami, Suárez will meet Messi, his friend since his time at Barcelona, as well as Busquets and Jordi Alba, also former teammates.

Even before leaving Grêmio, coach Renato Gaúcho had already said that the center forward had advanced negotiations to play in the MLS.

Furthermore, this year’s Copa América will take place in the United States, which also helped with the decision. Suárez intends to be called up by Uruguay. In the last FIFA Data, number 9 was called up again by the Uruguayan national team after almost a year.

Suárez left Grêmio with 29 goals and 17 assists in 54 games, the most for clubs in a career season. Before Tricolor, the Uruguayan played for Nacional, Groningen-HOL, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid.

Vin Diesel accused of sexual assault

0

This Thursday, 21, a former assistant to Vin Diesel filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, alleging that the actor sexually assaulted her during his employment in the fall of 2010, while filming ‘The Fast and Furious 5’. The details were released by Vanity Fair, which had access to the legal documents. Vin Diesel’s representatives chose not to comment on the case.

According to the lawsuit, the assistant had signed a confidentiality agreement before starting to work with the actor, which led her to not report the incident earlier. The suit alleges that, motivated by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, she decided to seek “justice for the suffering she experienced at the hands of Vin Diesel.” The former assistant, identified as Asta Jonasson, claims she was hired by Diesel’s company to work on location in Atlanta, where the film was being produced.

Her job, having recently graduated in cinema, involved organizing events and accompanying Vin Diesel to parties. According to the lawsuit, in September 2010, in a hotel suite, the actor grabbed her wrists and pulled her to the bed. Even after her requests to stop, he continued the assault, touching and kissing her breasts. Asta Jonasson claims to have been afraid to refuse due to Diesel’s superior position and describes how he pinned her against the wall, continuing the sexual abuse.

The lawsuit reports that, after the incident, Samantha Vincent, Diesel’s sister and president of One Race (the company that hired Asta), called to terminate her former assistant’s contract. Despite what happened, Jonasson continued her career in the entertainment industry, performing roles as an assistant and production coordinator.

As artists, we have to follow our heart and it’s me following my heart and doing something that maybe not everyone thought was the best idea, but I had to do it,” Jennifer Lopez said throughout the interview.

NBA Chief operating officer explains details about Draymond Green’s suspension

Last Wednesday (20), in an interview with The Athletic with journalist Mike Vurkonov, the director of basketball operations at the National Basketball Association (NBA), Joe Dumars, told details about the league’s decision to impose an indefinite suspension to Draymond Green.

++ Luton captain Tom Lockyer discharged from hospital after cardiac arrest in the field

“We didn’t want to focus on a number… whatever you put in, it becomes a focus. Everyone would focus on the number of games instead of thinking ‘Draymond, take time to rest, straighten up, whatever you need. Ask for help and be well’. We didn’t want him to think ‘I need to hurry up and do this now because I have five, ten, 15, 20 games to play’. That’s why there was no minimum limit,” said Joe Dumars.

The director continued to talk about what happened: “The only thing we really want him to do is get better, so that when he comes back, we don’t have to deal with the same problems over and over again. And that purpose behind the indefinite period, and when he’s ready, he’ll come back. When the Warriors feel he’s ready, he’ll come back.”

The decision applied by the NBA on the player was due to numerous aggressive actions, but mainly due to the action taken against Jusuf Nurkic in the match against the Phoenix Suns, on Tuesday (12). However, this is not the first punishment the athlete has received, at the beginning of the season, Draymond Green applied a rear naked choke to Rudy Gobert while playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The indefinite suspension recommends that the player receive advice regarding his actions. Steve Kerr stated that the Golden State Warriors organization will support the athlete in any necessary measure and, even away from the team, will have programs to continue his physical performance and reinforce his mental health.

The NCAA continues to determine whether members of the football team met Jim Harbaugh to practice new practices during the prohibited period. If the information detailed by the Detroit News outlet is proven, the coach, once again, will be penalized for four Level II and one Level I violations.

This is not the first time that Jim Harbaugh has been involved in controversy. The investigations began at the beginning of this year and until then new information is being analyzed in light of the circumstances. In his defense, the coach, who has been at the University of Michigan since 2015, denied the information disclosed and states that he had no intention of deceiving any professional.
