The Detroit Pistons’ recent games have been painful for the franchise’s fans. After making history negatively by achieving their 27th consecutive defeat against the Brooklyn Nets, last Tuesday (26), the Michigan team lost another one and tied the absolute record of 28 consecutive defeats in the NBA.

The current feat is tied with the Philadelphia 76ers’ campaign, which required two seasons in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 to achieve this feat.

As a result, the Pistons team started the match willing not to break the record for most defeats and dominated much of the period, going 21 points ahead when they led 64-43 at the end of the second quarter. And they were still leading by 19 at halftime. 

However, the Celtics showed that they are not leaders of the Eastern Conference for nothing and cut the difference to just one point midway through the third quarter with 77-76.

With this, the match was only decided in overtime, as in the decisive quarter, the score ended at 108 to 108. But the strength of the home team was predominant in Boston’s victory and another sad story for the Pistons in the 2023/ 2024, which reached its 29th defeat in 31 matches. 

Porzingis was the scorer of the game with 35 points and 8 rebounds. Tatum scored 31 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. On Detroit’s side, the highlight again was Cade Cunningham, who had 31 points and 9 assists.

Now, Detroit will try to avoid more records this Saturday (30), when they host the Toronto Raptors, a team with a record of 12 wins and 18 losses, at home.
