United States President Joe Biden told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this Sunday (11) that Israel should not proceed with a military operation in Rafah.
A city in the south of the Gaza Strip, without a plan to guarantee the security of around one million people sheltered there, reported the White House.
As a result, Biden’s call with Netanyahu came days after the US leader told reporters that Israel’s response in the Palestinian territory to Hamas attacks was “exaggerated”.
Additionally, the appeal also focused on ongoing efforts to secure the release of Hamas hostages, the White House highlighted.
Aid agencies say an attack on Rafah would be catastrophic.
