On January 15, Trump had already won 40 delegates in the Iowa caucus, forcing his main opponent, Ron DeSantis, to abandon the race. With the victory in New Hampshire, Trump is closer to securing the nomination. This feat is notable as it marks the first time in the modern era that a Republican candidate, other than the current president, has won the first two primaries.

Although Haley did better than expected in polls, which indicated an 18 to 20 percentage point lead for Trump, the issue of the economy and immigration motivated the majority of voters in New Hampshire, with three in 10 Republicans mentioning these issues . Foreign policy and abortion were the least mentioned, by two in 10 voters.

The South Carolina primary is scheduled for February 24, but all eyes turn to Super Tuesday on March 5, when 16 states will hold votes. Key states such as California and Texas will play a crucial role, with a large number of delegates at stake: 169 Republicans and 424 Democrats in California, and 244 Democrats and 161 Republicans in Texas.
