As a result, images circulated on social media showed that a silver sedan crashed into one of the pickup trucks that was part of the presidential convoy.
Despite the scare, Biden and Jill only saw the incident from a distance and took no risks, according to their spokespeople.
The car, which suffered damage to the bumper, was quickly surrounded by security agents after stopping. The agents cornered the car and pointed guns at the driver, who raised his hands.

The Bidens returned safely to their Wilmington home after the incident.
The 46-year-old man who caused the crash was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and inattentive driving, said David Karas, spokesman for the Wilmington Police Department.
With that, the police did not identify him by name. The Secret Service denied there was any intent to attack.
