“There is no intention of placing US troops on the ground,” he said, on Monday (9), in a teleconference interview.
Continuing Kirby stated that President Joe Biden “will always make sure that we are protecting and defending our national security interests wherever those interests are, including, especially in that part of the world”.

It is worth remembering that earlier on Monday, the American president reaffirmed his support for Israel. Biden highlighted the partnership between the two countries and guaranteed that the US will continue to provide the necessary support for the defense of the Israeli people.
Furthermore, Biden expressed concern about the safety of American citizens in Israeli territory, revealing that at least 11 of them have already been killed in attacks that have occurred since last Saturday.
Another point that Joe Biden mentioned was the possibility of hostages with American nationality being under the power of Hamas, classifying this situation as “probable”.
Finally, Kirby reported that the first tranche of additional U.S. security assistance to Israel in response to the Hamas attacks was on the way Monday night.
“I don’t believe it has arrived in Israel yet, it’s getting there,” he explained. Afterwards, the spokesperson also said that the White House will be lit with the colors of the Israeli flag, in solidarity with the country.
