He acknowledged the difficulty of establishing this connection due to the lack of a central authority for telecommunications issues in Gaza. However, Musk highlighted that so far, “no access points have requested connection in that region.”
Internet connectivity in the Gaza Strip was completely cut off last week, resulting in 34 hours of no internet access. This period of interruption made communication with emergency services impossible, leading teams of paramedics to act blindly, following the sound of explosions in an attempt to find injured people. Connectivity began to be restored spontaneously around 4 a.m. local time (10 p.m. Saturday GMT), according to Abdulmajeed Melhem, executive director of Paltel, the main Palestinian telephone company.
