Biden asked Republicans in Congress to help pass stricter gun laws. “Too many Americans have had a family member killed or injured as a result of gun violence. This is not normal, and we cannot accept it,” said Biden.
Namely, On Wednesday night (25), a man opened fire on people at two establishments in Lewiston. Eighteen people died and 13 others were injured, according to state governor Janet Mills.

With that, Biden has been briefed and will continue to receive updates, a US official in Washington said.
The White House said the president spoke by phone with Governor Mills, Senators Angus King and Susan Collins and Congressman Jared Golden about the shooting and offered full federal support in the wake of the attack.
Therefore, the 40-year-old suspect is considered dangerous and is on the run. Mills also stated that police in the cities of Lewiston, Boston and New York are searching for the man. FBI employees also help with operations.
So far, police have found a white car, which they believe to have been used by the killer, in the Lisbon district, 11 km away from Lewiston.
It is worth remembering that the massacre could become the sixth deadliest in US history, if the number of 22 deaths is confirmed, according to a survey by the Gun Violence Archive institute.
The most violent attack took place in Las Vegas in 2017, when 58 people were murdered and 441 were injured.
Since the beginning of 2023, 565 mass shootings have been recorded in the country, causing the deaths of 595 people. In the same period last year, 559 incidents were recorded with 545 deaths.
