On the first day of the year 2023, Rolling Stones magazine released a list that elected the 200 greatest male and female singers of recent times who represented originality, influence, breadth and depth in their musical career. The first disclosure of the listing took place in 2008 and since then, it has been changing over the years.

At the top of the list are Aretha Franklin, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, among others. The magazine commenting on Beyoncé reflects that the singer is “one of pop’s great historians, an artist so passionate about the heroes who shaped her that she can’t help but find opportunities to honor them in her music, performance and, of course, her singing” .

Others have rougher, weirder, or more delicate instruments.”
