Perry said he met the actress approximately three years before they became co-stars and was immediately mesmerized by her, according to a report in a Page Six report, which already had access to the autobiography. The actor reported calling Aniston to try to impress her with the news that he had been signed for two roles in Hollywood.“It was clear that this made her think I liked her too much, or in the wrong kind of way,” he writes in the book.

Even so, Matthew asked Aniston out, but the actress declined and suggested they just be friends. He recalled telling her, “[We] can’t be friends!” After they were cast in the NBC sitcom and sat down for the first script reading table, the actor admitted that he still had a crush on Jen, but they “were able to sail right past the past and focus on the fact that we had both gotten the best job Hollywood had to offer.”
Matthew Perry said that feelings for Jennifer continued during production, but ended up moving on because of her “deafening lack of interest”. The star still remembers that in 1998, four years after the release of ‘Friends’, and when Jennifer Aniston started dating Brad Pitt, he was over it.
