The award celebrates actors whose diverse contributions in both film and television have turned them into household names. “Jennifer embodies everything about the Generation Award,” executive producers Wendy Plaut and Vanessa WhiteWolf said in a statement. “As a woman who does it all — in the acting, singing, dancing, producing, fashion and beauty realms — Jennifer Lopez is a timeless icon who’s made a lasting impact on film, TV, music and culture.”
The most recent film starring J. Lo, “Marry Me”, released in February, broke the Peacock audience record. The romantic comedy became the most watched movie on streaming, among those that had simultaneous premieres on the platform in theaters.
In addition to being the protagonist, Jennifer was also a producer on “Marry Me”. In May, Jennifer Lopez signed on to executive produce a series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The project is in development and has a screenplay adapted by Rachel Shukert (“The Baby-Sitters Club” and “Glow”, Netflix).
