The first image of “Disenchanted” was released by Disney, in which Maya Rudolph and Amy Adams, who is reprising her role as Princess Giselle, appear dressed in their royal attire. The film is the long-awaited sequel to the hit “Enchanted”, premiered in 2007, which mixes romance, fantasy and musical.

In the original story, Princess Giselle of the animated kingdom of Andalasia falls in love with Prince Edward, but their wedding plans are ruined by Edward’s stepmother, Queen Narissa. The Evil Queen then transforms into an old woman and throws Giselle down the wishing well, and the princess ends up in the real world in the middle of Times Square. Lost in the city, she finds Robert, who along with his daughter, Morgan, shelter the princess in their apartment. But Robert and Giselle eventually fall in love and find a happy ending.

In “Disenchanted,” the story picks up ten years after “Enchanted” and follows Giselle as she realizes her “happily ever after” in New York with Robert (Patrick Dempsey) may not be the happy ending she was hoping for. The cast also includes Idina Menzel and James Marsden, who were part of the first film, and now Maya Rudolph as Malvina, the new villain.

In April, James Marsden said that Idina Menzel will have songs in the new film, and shared his opinion about it.

“It was a crime that in the first film, she’s in a movie musical and you have Idina Menzel, and she doesn’t sing a note”, the actor said. “We’ve raised the bar by giving her some big, Stephen Schwartz, Alan Menken … I can’t say too much about what she sings, but original music, I’ll say.So all new original music, all the original cast coming back and more, and just expanding on that world, which was so much fun 15 years ago”, added.

The sequel was written by J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Barry Josephson. The movie will be released on thanksgiving, exclusively on Disney+.
