Goetzman revealed the information when asked about the possibility of making “The Polar Express 2”. Despite confirming the plans for the film, the producer did not give further details.
Listen, I would love to (do The Polar Express 2). I would love to do a sequel to “Where the Wild Things Are”. There are a lot of things that we did, that established themselves, made an impact. These movies, the studios want another one”.

“And that’s how it happens. I’m ready for “Mamma Mia 3”, man. That would be amazing to do right now. But it turns out there’s a lot involved”.
‘Whose artistic property would this be? Would it be this?’ It’s not like, ‘Hey, let’s do another one! So, everyone takes time and that’s okay, because we don’t mind things moving slowly. But that’s trying to be resolved now, for sure, “The Polar Express 2”. Yes,” Goetzman told ComicBook.
It is worth remembering that the original feature was directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future trilogy) based on a script co-written by him and William Boyles Jr. (‘Cast Away’). Released in 2004, “The Polar Express” grossed US$314 million at the global box office and became one of the public’s favorites to watch at Christmas time.
