Recently released court records mention the names of late pop icon Michael Jackson and illusionist David Copperfield in connection with investigations into the sex trafficking ring led by businessman Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein, arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors, committed suicide in August of the same year. His ex-wife and business partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the end of 2022 for her participation in the same criminal network.

Despite being mentioned in investigations, both Jackson and Copperfield were not identified as clients of Epstein’s sex trafficking network. Their names were mentioned in the testimony of Johanna Sjoberg, one of the victims of the businessman’s network. Sjoberg reported seeing Copperfield at a dinner party at Epstein’s home, where the illusionist performed some magic tricks.

She noted a friendly relationship between Copperfield and Epstein, but nothing more. Michael Jackson was also mentioned in Sjoberg’s testimony, who claimed to have met him at Epstein’s Palm Beach home, but denied having been forced to massage the musician.

The newly revealed documents contain more than 150 names related to the investigation into Epstein and Maxwell’s crimes. One of the most controversial mentions is that of former US president Bill Clinton, with a victim of the businessman claiming that Epstein once said that Clinton had a preference for younger people.
