Renowned singer and actress Jasmine Guy shared that she sheltered Tupac Shakur in her home after he was shot in 1994. Guy revealed the story during his appearance on the talk show “Sherri” last Friday. She told how she and Jada Pinkett Smith tried to visit Tupac in the hospital in New York after the incident, but he had already left.

“He didn’t feel safe there. He had just been shot,” she said. “I felt like an easy target. And because I was discreet and they didn’t know we were friends…” she explained about how Tupac ended up going to her house.

Guy shared his experience providing a safe place for Tupac to hide while recovering from his injuries. “It felt like The Diary of Anne Frank because I couldn’t tell anyone it was there,” he commented. After being shot five times, Tupac was determined to leave the hospital.

She explained that, soon after, Tupac joined the rest of his family, who wanted to stay together during that challenging time. “Everyone was in that room,” she recalled. With so many of Tupac’s relatives staying at Guy’s house, she made a rule with his family: “‘If we want to keep the peace, everyone has to leave by 10 p.m.’ And that lasted about two days,” he reported. The Shakurs’ response was, “‘You don’t understand. We’re the Shakurs. We’re going to show you how to have a family life.'” Tupac and his family stayed at her house for approximately two weeks, and Guy, recalling the moment, said, “It was fun, despite the stress.” Guy met Tupac when he starred in “A Different World” and maintained their friendship through Jada Pinkett Smith. Tupac was the victim of another shooting in 1996 and tragically died.
