Marvel enthusiasts shouldn’t anticipate Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in an interview with Vanity Fair that there are no plans to revive the character after his last appearance in “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019.

Feige highlighted the importance of preserving the impact of that moment, emphasizing that everyone worked hard for many years to achieve that outcome and they don’t want to magically undo it.

Rumors about the character’s possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe emerged last month, but Robert Downey Jr. expressed hesitation, including regarding reshoots of the last film, as shared by co-director Joe Russo.

Russo explained that the emotional farewell took place on the last day of filming, and everyone agreed not to pressure Downey Jr. into repeating the experience, promising that it would be the last time they would force him to do so. “Avengers: Endgame” co-director Anthony Russo added that it was challenging for Downey Jr. to return to record his final line as Tony Stark, especially considering the scene was filmed near the location of his original audition, where he won the award paper.
