During her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Rodrigo explained the situation. “I had this very embarrassing encounter once where I was stalking my ex as one does. Sue me, sorry. And I accidentally followed him ’cause I was stalking him!”.

The situation has become more noticeable because the singer doesn’t follow anyone on her Instagram account, a decision she said she made a long time ago to help her stay away from social media. “I was just following one person so it was super obvious that I was following him”, said Olivia.
Rodrigo explained that she didn’t notice what was happening, but her friend runned up to her room saying: “Did you mean to follow him? Unfollow him!”. The situation got worse when she rushed to unfollow the guy and her phone died as soon as she opened the Instagram app.
“I couldn’t find a charger so I was just following my ex for a while. People were like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s hacked!’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, you guys be safe! Get your two-factor authentication, you guys”, she joked.
The singer made it clear that this won’t happen again, as she revealed that she now has a secret Instagram account (known colloquially as “Finsta”). Olivia said that the account allows you to “just lurk and be curious”.
