Director Greta Gerwig has made it clear that she would not be taking part in a Barbie sequel, if there is one. According to her, the original film was all she had in mind. In an interview with The New York Times, Greta revealed that it is as if there are no additional ideas left, in addition to the ones already executed in the film.

“Everything I would want to do in a project, I’ve done,” she said. Greta explained that this is the feeling at the end of all the films she has ever directed, as if it fulfills a cycle. She stated that she doesn’t want to spoil anyone’s hopes for a sequel, but that she doesn’t really have any new ideas, and that she encourages someone to take over the space.
