Sony Pictures released, this Wednesday morning (15), the first trailer for Madame Web, the new film in the Spider-Man universe. Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts star in the preview.

In the comics, Madame Teia is an elderly woman who suffers from myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease that forces her to live on life support. Blind and originally a mutant, she is able to predict the future of characters from the Spider-Verse.
She is rarely seen in action and has no villain of her own, so it is possible that the feature film adapts the character by casting Dakota Johnson, a younger actress, or turns into another story. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, duo from Morbius, are the screenwriters. S.J. Clarkson directs.
Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Adam Scott (Severance), and Tahar Rahim (Don Juan) are also in the film’s cast.

Thus, Sweeney is expected to play Spider-Woman, Julia Carpenter, and Scott will be a young version of Uncle Ben.
With this, the film will be part of the growing universe of films based on characters from the Spider-Man universe, which began with Venom, which had two feature films with Tom Hardy and has one more on the way.
It’s worth remembering that in 2022, the studio released Morbius, starring Jared Leto. There is also a Kraven the Hunter movie with Aaron-Taylor Johnson that was scheduled for October 2023 but was recently pushed back to August 2024.
Madame Web opens in theaters on February 16, 2024.
