Halle Berry didn’t hold back after Drake used a photo of her without permission to promote his new song. Last Friday, September 15, the acclaimed actress shared a direct message on her Instagram: “Sometimes you need to be the bigger person… even if you’re a woman!” This was a direct response to the rapper, who, two days earlier, released his latest single, “Slime You Out”, featuring SZA, and released a photo of Halle covered in green slime at Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards.

When a follower asked the actress what she thought about Drake using her photo, Halle promptly responded on her own page, stating, “That’s exactly what my post today is about. When the people you admire let you down, it’s important keep your posture and move forward!”

She continued interacting with her followers, explaining that Drake’s people had contacted her team asking for permission to use the photo, and she had denied it. Halle expressed her dissatisfaction with the association of her image with the rapper’s music, considering it disrespectful and not appropriate.

When asked why she was upset if the photo was owned by Getty Images and likely acquired legally, Halle reiterated her stance: “Because he asked me and I said NO, that’s why. Why ask if you plan on doing it?” what do you want? It’s about principles and integrity. I thank so many of you for understanding that.”
