Last Monday (8), during a campaign event in South Carolina, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, had his speech interrupted by protesters demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The location of the event was associated with the tragic 2015 incident in which a white man took the lives of nine black people in a church.

“If you really care about the lives lost here, you should also call for a ceasefire in Palestine.” Other protesters joined in, calling for a “ceasefire now.” Biden supporters responded with chants of “4 more years” until the group was removed.

After the protests, Biden acknowledged the group’s passion and reported that negotiations are underway to withdraw Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.

He stated: “I have been quietly working with the Israeli government to reduce and significantly withdraw [troops] from Gaza. I have used every means possible to do so.” Both the president and his vice president, Kamala Harris, plan to run for re-election in November.
