During an interview broadcast on Canal+, Kylian Mbappé, Thuram’s friend, questioned him about his refusal to join PSG. In a relaxed manner, Thuram replied: “He knows very well why I didn’t come to Paris.” Then, the Inter striker explained his decision.

“I never asked for guarantees of playing time, I don’t believe they exist. When you go to a club, you have to impose yourself or not. It was a question of feeling. Inter had been interested in me for two years and had always seen me as their number 9, so it was an easy choice,” said Thuram.
With Thuram’s refusal, PSG sought to sign Kolo Muani, who previously played for Frankfurt.
