The announcement was made in the team’s Instagram account. Rogers plays predominantly as a winger. The fee is £8m plus add-ons which may, in time, rise to £15m. He moved to Middlesbrough from Manchester City for £1.5m on a four-year deal last July.

The forward has scored seven goals and made nine assistants in 33 games this season. Middlesbrough rejected three offers from Aston Villa before agreeing a price for Rogers. Manchester City will also receive a share of that money, having negotiated a sale fee of 25% of any profit from Boro.
Manager Unai Emery spoke about Rogers, after Villa’s 3-1 home defeat by Newcastle on Tuesday (30): “We are motivated and excited to work with [Rogers] and hopefully he can progress here like we think he will do”.
