Filmmaker James Gunn took to social media to update fans about the construction of the new DCU. According to the director, two projects will go into production in 2024, while the Comando das Criaturas series should be released by the end of the year.

“A year ago, Peter Safran and I introduced our DC slate for the first time – thank you to all of you for the support you’ve given us throughout the year,” Gunn wrote.

“Today, Superman: Legacy is about to begin production, episodes of Creature Commandos are being finalized and will be released later this year, and at least two more projects are gearing up for release in the coming months. Incredible scripts keep coming and incredible talent keeps coming. new projects, planned and unplanned, are arriving. Thank you!”, he concluded.

The new Superman film will feature David Corenswet (Pearl) in the title role; Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane; Nicholas Hoult (The Great) as Lex Luthor; Skyler Gisondo (Licorice Pizza) as Jimmy Olsen; and more.

As Gunn revealed, “Superman: Legacy” will show the Man of Steel at the beginning of his heroic career, trying to establish himself in a world that already has superheroes. Creature Command will have seven episodes in total, all written by James Gunn, the co-president of DC Studios.

Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, “Superman: Legacy” is the first film in the new DCU.
