As a result, she was chosen to play Supergirl in the new DC universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The young actress is confirmed as the protagonist of the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, based on the acclaimed DC comic series of the same name.

It is worth remembering that the heroine’s solo project does not yet have a defined director, but Ana Nogueira (The Vampire Diaries) was recently hired to write the script.

James Gunn, who confirmed Milly Alcock’s casting on Instagram, has yet to give details on when she will make her first appearance.

Additionally, the news that Alcock has been cast in the role now suggests that she could debut as a superhero in the first film in the rebooted DC cinematic universe, Superman: Legacy, which Gunn is writing and directing.

“Milly is a fantastically talented young actress, and I’m incredibly excited for her to join the DC Universe. Yes, I first met her in ‘House of the Dragon,’ but I was impressed by her many auditions and screen tests for # Supergirl. She embodies Kara as conceived by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira”, said James Gunn in the message confirming the casting.

Furthermore, to get the role, Milly had a lot of competition. According to Deadline, Emilia Jones (The Beat of the Heart) and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters) also auditioned to play Kara Zor-El.
