Cillian Murphy, aged 47, won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for “Oppenheimer”, generating repercussions on social media due to the reaction of Bradley Cooper, aged 49, also nominated in the category. Cooper did not hide his dissatisfaction with the defeat, highlighted as a viral moment on online platforms.
Before the awards ceremony, there was speculation that Cooper had made a hint at Cillian a few weeks earlier. During an interview on Variety’s “Actor on Actors” talk show in December, the actor expressed that preparation for playing Leonard Bernstein in “Maestro” could not be accomplished in just six months, the time Murphy dedicated to playing Oppenheimer.

Studies for “Maestro” began shortly after the success of “A Star Is Born” in 2017, while Cillian was invited to the role months earlier by director Christopher Nolan. Cooper highlighted the importance of extensive preparation for acting, stating that it is not something that can be done in the short term.
The disagreement between Bradley and Cillian dates back to the past, mainly regarding the approach to biographical films. The protagonist of “Oppenheimer” stated that he does not see the need to physically resemble the character he is playing, while Cooper even wore a prosthetic nose to resemble Leonard Bernstein.
