Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate David McCormick told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Friday that he does not plan to support former President Donald Trump in the primary but will pledge support for the eventual Republican nominee in the general election.

McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO, previously competed in the 2022 midterm elections, narrowly losing to Trump-backed candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz.

He has said he will not get involved in the presidential primaries, but will work with Trump or any Republican nominee to ensure victories in state and presidential elections.

McCormick highlighted his race as crucial to the Senate majority, arguing that “the stakes couldn’t be higher” in the swing state of Pennsylvania. He also criticized current Democratic Senator Bob Casey, stating that he has been a strong supporter of Biden’s policies, voting in line with them 98.5% of the time, and considered his long stay in office.
