As a result, according to the portal’s sources, the actor’s departure is due to scheduling conflicts that arose due to the postponement of recording for the project, initially scheduled to begin filming in June 2023.
In the original period, both Hollywood screenwriters and actors were on strike for better working conditions, which made it impossible to fulfill the planned schedule.
With the end of the shutdown in November 2023, recordings were moved to the second quarter of 2024, which conflicts with the actor’s other prior commitments.

With that, although nothing was official, Yeun would theoretically play the hero Sentinel in the adventure. In the comics, the character is an ordinary man who remembers a past that his mind had blocked, in which he was a vigilante with the power of “a million suns”.
The Thunderbolts film will feature a team made up entirely of MCU anti-heroes: John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh), Alexei Alanovich Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), Bucky Barnes /Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Trainer (Olga Kurylenko).
Furthermore, the group will be led by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) – and the cast will also feature Harrison Ford and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear). The director is Jake Shreier (Paper Towns).
Thunderbolts is scheduled to premiere on July 25, 2025.
