The safety will join the Texans for the last two games of the regular season, as they are fighting for a playoff berth. Broncos waived Jackson one week after he finished serving his four-game NFL suspension, for multiple illegal hits this season. This was his second suspension of the season.

The safety had already been suspended for two games after his third illegal hit of the season to the head or neck of an opponent, on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave. Three times after returning from suspension, Jackson delivered an illegal blow with the crown of his helmet to the face mask of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

After that, the NFL suspended him for four games, citing his “flagrant” illegal acts. He was eligible to return to the Broncos for Sunday’s (24) game against the New England Patriots, but the team refused to activate him after he practiced during the week. After that, he was waived on Monday (25).

Jackson was a starter in all 69 games he played for the Broncos over four seasons. P.J. Locke has taken over as Denver’s starting strong safety in Jackson’s absence.
