President Joe Biden said on Thursday (14) that he wants Israel to focus on saving civilian lives in the Gaza Strip.

Thus, the statement came after he was asked if he wanted Israel to reduce attacks on Palestinian territory.
“I want them to focus on how to save civilian videos. Not [that] they stop going after Hamas, but [that] they are more careful,” said Biden.
With this, the speech was made amid the White House’s struggle to clarify the president’s speech this week criticizing the way Israel has conducted the war.

Additionally, Biden did not respond to another question about whether he thinks Israel is violating international humanitarian law.
It is worth remembering that on Wednesday (13), the spokesman for the National Security Council, John Kirby, was questioned several times by reporters about the president’s blunt statement that Israel is beginning to lose international support in the war because of the “indiscriminate bombing” in Gaza.
Thus, at the time Kirby emphasized that the Biden administration sees Israel’s “intent” to minimize civilian deaths, despite Biden himself stating that Israel was not being careful.
