Last Tuesday (12), through social networks and official websites, rumors emerged that Cian Uijtdjebroeks had suffered intimidation from his former team Bora-Hansgrohe. Apparently, groups were created via apps that condemned and ridiculed the athlete’s attitudes while participating in the Vuelta a España.

“Several sources say that Uijtdjebroeks was something of an outsider in Bora. He was treated like a kind of nerd by the other drivers, but also by the team leaders. That’s because he was very fanatical about certain things. He was evaluating his diet, he didn’t think his time trial bike was aerodynamic enough, he didn’t think his clothes were good enough, so he bought different socks himself”, said journalist Thijs Zonneveld.

The professional continued to explain the speculation: “For example, during the Vuelta, there were also ‘Anti-Cian’ app groups, without him, so they could gossip about him. He is really very childish. He didn’t feel at home on that team.” However, Bernhard Eisel, one of the team’s drivers who was with the cyclist, denied the information, stating that when he was present, nothing had happened as mentioned.
Aiming to start a different trajectory than this season, Cian Uijtdjebroeks was seen on Tuesday morning (12) training with his new team Jumbo-Visma, at the team’s training camp in Denía, Spain. Faced with Bora-Hansgrohe’s accusations about the termination of the contract, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) reported that it was monitoring the case.
Bora-Hansgrohe had stated that the cyclist has a contract concluded until the end of 2024 and that he had not been informed about negotiations for possible future teams. “Cian is and will remain a member of Bora-Hansgrohe, also in the upcoming 2024 season. He is contractually linked to us until December 31, 2024,” the statement said.
