Last Sunday (10), through social networks and official websites, Bora-Hansgrohe took a stance on the statement that Jumbo-Visma had published on Saturday (09) stating that Cian Uijdebroeks would be the team’s newest hire. However, the information was denied by the German team.

As justification, Bora-Hansgrohe stated that the cyclist has a contract closed until the end of 2024 and that he had not been informed about the negotiations for possible future teams. “Cian is and will remain a member of Bora-Hansgrohe, also in the upcoming 2024 season. He is contractually linked to us until December 31, 2024,” the statement said.

However, amidst the controversy and with the aim of ending speculation, the company that provides consultancy and business management for Cian Uijdebroeks’ career reported that the athlete terminated his contract with the German team on December 1st of this year, claiming that the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is aware of the change and what measures will be applied in court.

Previously, according to an interview with the website Het Laatste Nieuws, Jumbo-Visma coach Richard Plugge announced that he intends to hire Cian Uijtdebroeks after the cyclist’s contract ends with his current team, Bora-Hansgrohe, at the end of the next year. The competition was fierce as Ineos Grenadiers and Lidl-Trek were also interested in the athlete.

This year, with the arrival of new members at Bora-Hansgrohe for the next season, Cian Uijtdebroeks will be accompanied by Primoz Roglic. The interest of several teams is not surprising, the athlete was in eighth place in the general classification in the Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España and has demonstrated an excellent trajectory in the professional category.
