The singer was approached by Sky’s Sports’ Martin Brundle during the exchange on the grid, and was asked what is going on “in [his] career at the moment”. After the interviewer repeated himself due to the loud noises, Kelly responded “I don’t think about my career. I don’t think about it”.

Brundle then said “Well, good luck with it, whatever you do”, and changed the subject asking for Kelly’s thoughts on F1 racing. “It’s loud, your life’s on the line … that’s exciting”, said the singer, before talking about a “nice moment” at the music studio when he came across Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.
After a little chat, Kelly asked “Can you give me your best air guitar?”, appearing to be trolling the interviewer. Brundle denied and Kelly insisted they should do an “air piano and air guitar collaboration right now”. Brundle stepped back from the singer and said “No, there’s millions [watching]. You do it”, before saying “I probably need to get on, but uh, because, we’ve got some people to see”. Kelly then shot the camera a thumbs down before walking away.
Later the singer wrote “my anxiety has won. i hate being in public.” in his X account (formerly known as Twitter). Even though he didn’t mention the interview, fans speculated that he was referring to the awkward moment.
