The two-time World Champion referees to the rumors that began to circulate on social media, following last weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix (29), that he could move to Red Bull next season.

Talking ahead of this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix (5), Fernando expressed that he didn’t like those rumors. “These rumors are the normal paddock rumors from people that are just trying to make fun of it and gain some followers and this kind of thing, but I’m not into that game”. “I don’t enjoy it (the rumors). All the rumors are coming from people that are not in this room, who are just here to make fun and I think it’s not funny when they play with anything”, added Alonso.
Aston Martin’s performance on track has fallen away since the opening weeks of this season. Alonso finished on the podium in six of the first eight races, but now in the last five Grand Prix he managed to score just two points, and also with retirements in each of the last two races. With these results, he fell to fifth in the driver’s standings.
The poor performance for Aston Martin, and the struggles that Sergio Perez continues to have in Red Bull led to questions about Alonso having a possibility to move between the teams. However, the Spanish driver made it clear that although they are “not competitive as wanted”, he believes that the team’s 2023 performance “must be seen as an overall success”. “We should not be happy but we cannot be too dramatic about the situation when this 2023 campaign has been a super season for us”.
